DID to Handle Resolver

Resolve a DID

Enter a DID starting with did:plc: or did:web:

What is DID to Handle Resolution?

This tool performs the reverse lookup of Handle to DID. Given a DID (Decentralized Identifier), it retrieves the associated handle from the DID document stored in the PLC directory.

Example:

DID: did:plc:z72i7hdynmk6r22z27h6tvur
→ Handle: bsky.app

How It Works

The resolution process queries the PLC (Public Ledger of Credentials) directory to retrieve the DID document, which contains an alsoKnownAs field with the user's handle.

  1. Query PLC directory with the DID
  2. Retrieve the DID document
  3. Extract handle from the alsoKnownAs field
  4. Return the handle (e.g., alice.bsky.social)

Note: This tool uses the PLC directory at plc.directory for resolution. All DID:PLC identifiers are publicly resolvable.

Technical Details: This tool queries plc.directory/[DID] to retrieve DID documents. All resolution happens client-side in your browser.
